We had a fantastic stay at The Talbot in North Yorkshire. The rooms were excellent, with comfy beds and everything we needed. The staff were exceptional, friendly and helpful. The hotel is a beautiful old mansion, grand from the outside and warm and cozy on the inside. The location is perfect, just a minute's walk from the town centre. a real break away!

Small, pleasant and friendly. Good value for money - much more in the room than usual for the price I paid. Fairly close to the station and city centre.

We recently spent Christmas at a hotel in North Yorkshire and had a delightful escape. the newly refurbished decor was really impressive, with a rustic wood feel and bold color scheme that created a luxurious yet relaxed atmosphere. the spacious and comfortable room had beautiful countryside views and a wonderful bathroom with a feature claw foot bath. We also enjoyed the freedom to eat wherever we wanted in the hotel, which added to the relaxed vibe. the service in the bar was great, and the mutton scrumpets we ordered were delicious and a refreshing change from the usual snacks.
We did have a few issues during breakfast. the staff seemed to be trying their best, but there were some problems with the setup.

Food was wonderful and staff were very friendly
If I had to find fault i would say the lunch menu was not very extensive and very limited on smaller lunches i.e.sandwiches

This is a lovely hotel. The room was large, clean and comfortable. It was very quiet, no noise at all from other guests. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, with excellent service. We asked for tea in our room and an iron and ironing board and got them immediately. We would definitely stay there again.
It was quite expensive for one night but you get what you pay for.

The Talbot proved how a hotel should be run with attentive, but not pushy staff and superb facilities for guests. The food was clearly fresh and from local sources and cooked to perfection. There is a very calm and relaxed atmosphere here and I will be returning for a longer stay in the not too distant future.

The hotel was immaculate and had been redecorated/refurbished sympathictically to reflect its country roots within the Market Town of Malton. The bonus for us was that we could take our dog with us.

Guest House in Talbot, North Yorkshire offered great facilities and exceeded our expectations. the spacious room had a lovely, close-to-town location. the staff was friendly, and the breakfast was nice. the grounds provided a pleasant place for walking our dog. A few minor drawbacks were a wool mattress topper that made the bed too hot for me and some black mold under the shower screen.
Overall, we had a fantastic stay. Cons: Absolutely nothing.

We knew the hotel from old (my wife had dancing lessons threre many years ago and spent her ealy years in Malton) )and we had coffee at the hotel for several years during its decline. We were pleased to read of its renovation. We make an annual visit to Pickering to see friends and will now include the excellent Talbot in our arrangements.

Had a lovely time at this hotel during the Christmas holidays. the staff were delightful and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. the decor in the hotel was exquisite and worked in harmony with the building. One of the best aspects was the elegant and comfortable high-backed sofa in the stunning entrance hall where we enjoyed our tea. the location was also great, with plenty of attractions and shops nearby.
There were a few downsides to our stay. there was no lift in the hotel, which was a problem for us as we struggled with the stairs.
